School Structure

The Ananda Marga River School is a project of Ananda Marga Education Ltd, a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. The AME Board directors are all members in good standing of Ananda Marga Australia as well as Ananda Marga international, in India.

The assigned Ananda Marga representative to the River School is the school Acharya. They facilitate and maintain the Neohumanist elements and spiritual culture of the school and they also have classroom input in implementing the teaching of meditation, yoga and ethics.

The AME Board delegates some of its powers in respect to the Ananda Marga River School to an Advisory Committee, as per provisions in the AME Constitution.

The Advisory Committee is formed of community members, including parents past and present and some Ananda Marga members, with skills in law, finance, governance, education, management, marketing, etc.

The overall role of the Advisory Committee is as the executive link (working board) between the AME Board and the Principal. In this capacity it supervises the day-to-day functioning of the school in regards to assessment and evaluation of operations and recommendations to the AME Board.

The Advisory Committee fulfils many of the functions of a normal school board, facilitating, monitoring and supporting the Principal to achieve goals in relation to staffing, curriculum and pedagogy, finances and property, workplace health and safety, administration, community and Neohumanism.

The Principal is the school leader and head of operations (pedagogy, management, administration and finance).

The school has a tremendous asset in its parent base. We value and welcome your input and hope that you will feel free to contact us if you need to at any time. Please let us know if you need any assistance, if you have any ideas or inspiration, or if you have any concerns of any sort. All communication will be in strict confidence unless you choose otherwise.

Parents are encouraged to attend monthly Parent Committee meetings, helping to plan social events such as our regular café nights, the River School Spring Festival and other fundraising activities. A parent from each classroom volunteers as parent liaison to represent parent input in planning and administration.
